This program commences the 2005/2006 School Year.
 Age of Explorations is a 90 minute interactive experience that specifically addresses the Grade Six Ontario School Board curriculum for the First Nation Peoples & European Explorers unit.  Age of Explorations is a mobile presentation that comes to your school. The two presenters speak on various topics outlined within the curriculum.  

During the presentation, participation from the students and teachers is encouraged to help explain certain topics, such as the various voyages of the Explorers and the interaction between the European Explorers & the First Nations Peoples. After a brief introduction about Blades of Glory, a variety of topics are covered.

  1. Glossary of terms
  2. Various theories of how people arrived in Canada
  3. Various Famous European Explorers & their voyages, such as:
  4. * John Cabot
  5. * Jacques Cartier
  6. * Samuel de Champlain
  7. First Nation Peoples, social & cultural characteristics
  8. Interaction between First Nation Peoples & Europeans (Positive & Negative)
  9. Question & Answer
  10. Students look at, touch, try on display items
 

Items placed on display include: Totem Pole, Beaver Skin, arrow heads, model ship, Canadian Diamonds & Martin Frobisher's "Fools Gold", various English, French and Native armour & weapons.

~    Seminars are presented to 2 to 3 classes at one time.
~    Presentations are held in a gymnasium
~    The use of 2 tables (approx. 5’ to 6’ each) and 2 chairs is required
~    Each presentatiion takes 30 to 45 min to setup
