While research of specific weaponry is useful for the
new participant, it is not mandatory. Basic combat knowledge and
experimentation of the weapon in practice, allows for a valuable and first
hand learning experience on the weapon's fundamentals. One is always
encouraged to test out “a new move” in a controlled manner at our training
facility.

Each battle is approximately 3 minutes long and is scored
by a referee.
A solid strike to your opponent's head, torso, arm (above
the elbow), and leg (above the knee) scores you one point. Disarming
your opponent scores you one point. You lose one point if you strike
your opponent in the groin, or while your opponent has his back towards
you. The participant with the most points during the round wins the
match and is declared the victor. All points awarded are at the referee's
discretion. All decisions are final .
